We've all seen the cowboy movies with the outnumbered, but staunchly courageous sheriff standing up to the lynch mob. Justice will be served by a trial before a jury of peers in a court of law therefore we don't respond to mob justice. Those days of lynch mobs are gone, relegated to our distant and more violent past...except maybe in Kalifornia:No Hanging? We're Gonna Break Some Windows!

There was going to be a riot regardless of the verdict. Guilt of murder, guilty of manslaughter, not-guilty...it wouldn't make a difference in the activity on the street. A black man got shot by a white man. The black man had been involved in activities which resulted in a police intervention. The black man resisted the law enforcement officer at least to the extent that he was going to get Tazed.

The white policeman, however, was apparently not adequately trained for his position. He drew his pistol rather than his Taser and without discerning the difference in size, weight, configuration, position on his belt, etc he employed the pistol, killing the alleged criminal. Apparently basics like sight acquistion were not ingrained either or he might have noted the difference in equipment visually if not by feel.

The trial, with a change of venue, examined the evidence. It is unlikely that the rioters did the same. The judge explained the elements of the law which apply to murder in the first degree. There is no way that there could have been pre-meditation or malicious intent. There was manifest incompetence. The verdict reflected that conclusion.

So, quite predictably the culture of victimization rampant in the minority neighborhoods of America responded by complaining to the state. They did so by taking to the streets and victimizing innocent property owners who are totally unrelated to the events in question.

How's your justice thing working out?

And, along the way there is no sheriff in Alameda Country or Oakland California who was prepared to stand up to the crowd until after the damage was done. Who is surprised by this?

Alleged AG Eric Holder has field against the Arizona immigration law that seeks to enforce existing US immigration law, by saying that the commerce clause of the Constiution somehow protects the illegal movement of illegal felons across alleged borders, or some such twaddle.

I knew it was bad business the moment that the Odd Man-Child chose the man who granted Marc Rich pardon and defended terrosrists.

He won’t prosecute a blatant case of race-based voter intimidation in Philadelphia, but he’ll search high and low for non-existent racial profiling immigration incidents in Arizona.

Note: There is something so fundamentally wrong with this administration that it cannot be described under the normal courzse of business.

It is not incomeptence or inexperience. It is deliberate. And that raises questions that very few people have the guts to ask.

McDonald v. Chicago Summarized

Here are the basics of the decision:

The right to keep and bear arms (RKBA) is recognized as a "fundamental right," which places it on par with freedom of speech and freedom of religion, among others. This categorization warrants "strict scrutiny" in appurtenant cases.

Strict scrutiny won't necessarily void gun registration schemes, but it will void outright bans, discretionary licensing requirements (see Scalia's discussion of "arbitrary and capricious" licensing requirements in Heller), and prohibitive taxes or licensing fees.

It should also void the Lautenberg Amendment, which extend the class of prohibited persons to those convicted of misdemeanor domestic violence crimes.

The court's recognition of the Second Amendment as protecting the RKBA especially as it relates to the right of self defense should also negate the "sporting purposes" requirement in 18 U.S.C. Sec. 922.2.

McDonald did NOT strike down Chicago's handgun ban. Rather, it remanded the case to the 7th Circuit Court of Appeals, which had previously upheld the trial court's dismissal of the case.

It's quite possible that Chicago will revise the law to bring it into what it feels is compliance with the constitution, but this fight isn't over by a long shot.

Aside from the Chicago law, others are now ripe for being challenged, including the draconian and arbitrary pistol ownership licensing schemes in places like NYC, CA, and NJ. Additionally, the assault weapons bans in NY, NJ and CA are in jeopardy.

With the Second Amendment now recognized as protecting a fundamental right, discretionary carry license laws such as those in NY, NJ, MD, and CA may also eventually be replaced with shall-issue laws.

"Mayor" Daley of Chicago declares his insistence to put new gun laws in place that will make it difficult to buy guns in Chicago - even after the Supremes affirmed the right to do so against all political subdivisions. Note that he does not want to "keep guns out of the hands of felons" or "improve public safety by eliminating accidental shootings" or "reduce the dangers to children posed by guns in the home" - but he vows to make it difficult for people to buy guns - in other words, to exercise their fundamental civil rights.

He then resorts to the old Democrat myth of the "rule of law".

Hey, Dick - if you cared about the rule of law, you would be abiding by the letter and spirit of the Supreme Court decision, see?

The Supreme Court held Monday that the Constitution's Second Amendment restrains government's ability to significantly limit "the right to keep and bear arms," advancing a recent trend by the John Roberts-led bench to embrace gun rights.

By a narrow, 5-4 vote, the justices also signaled, however, that some limitations on the right could survive legal challenges.

Writing for the court in a case involving restrictive laws in Chicago and one of its suburbs, Justice Samuel Alito said that the Second Amendment right "applies equally to the federal government and the states."

The court was split along familiar ideological lines, with five conservative-moderate justices in favor of gun rights and four liberals opposed. Chief Justice Roberts voted with the majority.
Two years ago, the court declared that the Second Amendment protects an individual's right to possess guns, at least for purposes of self-defense in the home.

That ruling applied only to federal laws. It struck down a ban on handguns and a trigger lock requirement for other guns in the District of Columbia, a federal city with a unique legal standing. At the same time, the court was careful not to cast doubt on other regulations of firearms here.
Gun rights proponents almost immediately filed a federal lawsuit challenging gun control laws in Chicago and its suburb of Oak Park, Ill, where handguns have been banned for nearly 30 years. The Brady Center to Prevent Gun Violence says those laws appear to be the last two remaining outright bans.

Lower federal courts upheld the two laws, noting that judges on those benches were bound by Supreme Court precedent and that it would be up to the high court justices to ultimately rule on the true reach of the Second Amendment.

The Supreme Court already has said that most of the guarantees in the Bill of Rights serve as a check on state and local, as well as federal, laws.

Monday's decision did not explicitly strike down the Chicago area laws, ordering a federal appeals court to reconsider its ruling. But it left little doubt that they would eventually fall.

Still, Alito noted that the declaration that the Second Amendment is fully binding on states and cities "limits (but by no means eliminates) their ability to devise solutions to social problems that suit local needs and values."

The former Honolulu elections clerk who maintains President Obama was not born in Hawaii and has no birth certificate from any hospital in the Aloha State is promoting a simple way to resolve the uproar over eligibility, at least for the future.

Tim Adams, 45, senior elections clerk for the city and county of Honolulu in the 2008 campaign, says all candidates for all offices should be required to prove their identity and eligibility before they can even run.

Well, duuuh...

"The easiest way would be to pass legislation saying everyone has to verify their identity when they're running for office," Adams told WND in an exclusive interview last week. "I do think requiring everyone to certify their identity would probably solve the entire controversy."

Adams stresses the requirement should be for all political contests, from the presidency down to local races, to make sure officeholder-wannabes are who they say they are, and live in the proper district, for instance.

Adams, a Hillary Clinton supporter who now teaches English at Western Kentucky University while he works on his master's degree, burst onto the scene last week in a WND story in which he asserted that Obama was definitely not born in Hawaii as the White House claims and that a long-form, hospital-generated birth certificate for Obama does not even exist there.

The winner (60% of the vote) is an unemployed gentleman (bum) whose only work history appears to be that he was involuntarily separated from service in the US Army (Other than Honorable? BCD?). Currently he is facing felony charges for showing obscene photos to a college student.

He faced a judge who actually campaigned, spending more than $200,000 seeking the nomination. Our victor spent nothing, made no appearances, has no campaign, filed no reports and so far has demonstrated no knowledge of the issues or the role of a US Senator.

Now the Democratic Party is embarrassed. Oh, really? Finally.

Laughably, the Democrat Rep. Jim Clyburn sees this as a Republican dirty trick. David Axelrod, doesn't think this was fair.

Observed:

Obviously productive male entered subway to travel uptown from questionable neighborhood in which he was pursuing his gainfully employed responsibilities.

Self-evident subsidized housing tax parasite was struggling on steps of subway with a baby stroller. Productive's hands being occupied with the tools of his trade, he waited patiently for Ms. Toohey's flailing to cease. Ms. Toohey scrunched to one side to allow Productive to pass.

When he did, another public housing tax parasite began inciting hatred at his "ungentlemanly" conduct. The level of anger and vitriol was inappropriate to anything except Iran's recent murders of people demanding to have their votes properly counted. Presumably his own travel and work requiremetns are meaningless in teh face of some member of the victim culture who requires yet something else they cannot pay for.

Apparently, Mr. Productive is expected to not only provide involuntarily conscripted tax revenue for the support of lower life forms, but to provide direct action in their moment-to-moment assistance as well.

Between food stamps, subsidized housing, state funded day care, and now everywhere-you-go babysitting and handholding, there is no aspect of her life that Ms. Toohey does not expect someone else to provide for her at the expropriation of Cuffy Meigs' gun.

There is truly and literally no limit to the entitlement mindset.

“Plus ca change, plus ca meme chose”

The thing that struck me was the greenery. Everywhere I looked, there was lush, verdant foliage. Tall Grass. Thick bushes. Trees. Leaves. Vines. And the water. Water was everywhere. Pools of it along the roadside. Every so often a glimpse of the bay between all the greenery.

It was all a bit claustrophobic to a young man fresh out of the plains of West Texas. Where I lived, you could see a car coming down dead-straight highways for 10-15 minutes before you passed them. The road between Levelland and Lubbock, TX (25 miles) has only 2 or 3 slight bends. And everywhere you look, you can see for at least 5 miles without obstruction. The land is dry and flat, the brush spars, the trees all planted – and not too many of them at all.

The West Texas skies are vast and the sunsets spectacular – especially after a dust storm. Any time the wind kicks up above 10-15 mph, so does the arid ground. The sky turns brown. The sand gets into everything – even through the vents in your car. And nothing tastes quite like oilfield dirt after it blows into your mouth and nose! There would be no dust storms here, though.

“Here” was Rhode Island – a place whose name I had heard but had never seen. Until I left the airport in Providence, that is, in the shuttle in which I was now embarked, and immediately saw strange types of houses and buildings (there is, after all, very little in common between plains architecture and that of New England), the greenery, the water, and the humidity. So began the trek to Newport.

And what, some would ask, was a West Texas farm boy doing in Newport? Newport had been, for 100 years, the playground of New York’s ultra-rich – the summer dwelling place of the arch-capitalists with names like Rockefeller, Vanderbilt, and Lodge. Before that it was a sailing center and a whaling village. The houses remain. The quaint fishing village façade remains. The cool sea breezes remain. Only the barons and sea captains are gone. Some would call them robber barons, but not me. I was, however, like a narwhal ashore in this place.

I had made a few trips to the shore, but of course, the beach at San Diego or Corpus Christi did not prepare me at all for the sight of Narraganset Bay. I had never seen water so blue or sky so clear. Every curve we went around seemed to expose a different aspect of the bay. Gulls were everywhere. Then we heaved around a corner, paid the bridge toll, and crossed over to Jamestown, a small village completely ensconced on an island between the mainland and Newport. It is, as you might figure, an upper-class community, with New-England shingle homes overhanging rocky, bluff shores. Everything is swathed in the greenery I have mentioned. The water is deep at this point of the bay, and very dark blue. I have seen few things so beautiful. Then, over the bridge! And into Newport – more of the same, only even more so. And a new revelation around every corner.

I had just been graduated from Texas Tech University in Lubbock, TX. A grand old southern school, with one of the prettiest campuses I have ever seen outside New England – the buildings are predominantly Spanish in style due to the rich Spanish heritage in Texas, and a leading university in its own right. I had been a member of the Naval ROTC unit (in fact, a plank owner), and was now off to initial officer training in Newport. I would have had to add a year to my degree plan to be commissioned through the ROTC, so off to Newport I went to do my summer training and get commissioned as an Ensign.

Unfortunately, I was about as sophisticated as an old feed sack, it turns out, and even though I thought I was going to be something special because of this little adventure, I soon found out otherwise. An Ensign may be a naval officer, but he is still a bucket head – as I was to find out.

Military basic training is not fun. In fact, it is probably not even possible to make it fun. And there I stood, carrying a small bag and a change of clothes (not many, though – I would not need them). With hay in my teeth and manure on my boots – figuratively – I stood on the naval base at Newport, which contains the Naval War College. Admirals and Captains come through here – ship commanders and air wing commanders and lawyers and doctors and executive officers.

“Where do I go?”

“Wah’ ah yah ea fo’?”

He repeated – I think – “Whea ya wanna go?”

I think I was actually answering the question when I told him I was headed for the Officer Candidate School (OCS).

“Gotta cah?”

Again – “Huh?”

“Do. You. Have. A. Cah.?”

“A car? Is that what you mean?”

“Yessuh.”

Oh, OK. Now we were on familiar territory. “No – I came on the shuttle”.

“Fine,” came the reply. “Steady as she goes until you come to the bulwark. Turn to starboard and steam past the BOQ. When you get to NEX, hard to port. Dead ahead past the grinder until you get to Mitchell Hall. Report to the OOD. He will assign your company and your berth.”

Or words to that effect.

“Pardon me, but BOQ? NEX? Grinder? OOD?” Again my remarkable wit and perspicaciousness – “Huh?”

After a few minutes, we sorted it out and I began the walk.

Later I was to learn that, in New England, one does not park their car, but rather they “paaaahk the caaaah”. File it away. We will have to translate things up here. Great.

Shortly I arrived at my berth. The first stateroom in Alfa Company. No one else was there. I, of course, had shown up early in the afternoon – I love to be early – and the conventional wisdom is to show up at the end of the day. Less time to sit staring at the wall while waiting for something to happen. I did not know this, and so I put on a stunning display of ignorance by showing up so early.

Naval OCS indoctrinees (INDOCS) are administered and trained by upperclassmen, similar to the academy systems. And so, it being a Sunday, most of the upperclassmen were out on liberty. The one who had been stuck with the watch greeted me warmly outside my stateroom door.

“WHAT ARE YOU DOING HERE SO EARLY SLIMY INDOC?” he bellowed at the top of his lungs. And here I learned how one is actually supposed to execute naval orders – literally. If they say report prior to 0800 Monday, then you report at 0759 on Monday. Not at 1345 on Sunday.

Note: I have always been nothing if not quick on the uptake.

“I have orders to OCS, sir” I whispered. Well, actually I spoke, but it was like a whisper by comparison. This, I learned was called a command voice in the Navy. Being naturally soft-spoken, it took me a while to develop one. But some of the sailors from my first ship can testify at the final court martial that develop one I did.

“GOOD! SO DOES EVERYONE ELSE! YOU ARE BUNK 1 IN STATEROOM 1! DON’T EYEBALL ME – EVER! STOW YOUR GEAR IN THE LOCKER AND READ YOUR SORM UNTIL SOME OTHER SLIMY INDOCS SHOW UP AND THEN I’LL FIGURE OUT WHAT TO DO WITH ALL OF YOU!”

The hallways were cinder block and tile. Everything echoed. Everything was so clean as to make a hospital look frowzy and disheveled. What was I doing here? This had been described as a gentleman’s school by a recruiter. And now I knew how much to trust a recruiter.

I entered the room and stowed my gear. I sat down on my desk chair. I looked out the window. I could find nothing in the stateroom that could possibly be referred to as a SORM. I heard gulls outside my window. They were everywhere. I heard the sea buoy bell in the distance.

Approximately 1 hour passed. Suddenly, he appeared in my hatch (doorway to the unitiated).

“ARE YOU READING YOUR SORM, INDOC?”

Here I made my second sterling impression. “Uh,…sir? What is a SORM?”

He slammed a book down on my desk – it had been there all along. It was entitled Standard Organization and Regulations Manual – US Navy.

AHA!

He left.

In another half-hour or so, Berth 2 was filled with my roommate for the duration. In came the INDOC, looking confused. In came the upperclassman, bellowing. Down sat the other INDOC. Out went the upperclassman.

We introduced ourselves. And I was asked: “What’s a SORM?” So – I showed him.

And here I developed the Commander’s first two dicta of Naval leadership:

1. The leader, the one out front, the first to arrive - has no one to help him, he must develop his own reserves of self-reliance and ingenuity;
2. Experience and leadership is often defined simply by the fact that one has been dragged through the bilge water only slightly ahead of the rest of les miserables.

We were both later selected to be company officers by the rest of the company.

In keeping with the spirit of “CHANGE” pervading the electorate, we feel at the Commander’s place that it is time to retire the Klinton-era “President” title (in quotes) which referred to a man duly elected president but without a shred of the dignity, judgment, sobriety, and integrity necessary to acquit the position well.

The question is thus posed of what to call the newly elected Mr. Obama, since he does not fit the same mold as Slick Willie. He may well have the sobriety and dignity for the job, although we seriously doubt the judgment and integrity. Nonetheless, we now need a new title.

To be President, one must be – according to the US Constitution – a natural born citizen. Since Mr. Obama is obviously not, and therefore cannot be, we cannot use the traditional title.

As always, when in need of creative input, one turns to La Contessa, who excels. And one is duly rewarded!

La Contessa suggests the term “Electee”. Huzzah! Perfect! Henceforth, until and unless Mr. Obama presents evidence of his claim to natural-born citizenship, he shall be known as the Electee. And since only a President can be Commander-in-Chief, his military capacity shall be known as “Manager-in-Chief”.

Now the only remaining question is how he can swear to uphold every provision of a document he refuses to follow, but that is a question for another day.

Can someone explain to me how 10 people are able to tyrannize hundreds, killing almost 200 and injuring another 200, without incurring a mass uprising? Suddenly, The Governor of Hawaii seals the birth records. The governor's office officially declined a request made in writing by WND in Hawaii to obtain a copy of the hospital-generated original birth certificate of Barack Obama. WND was told the official reason for denial of access to Obama's birth certificate would Section 338-18 of the Hawaii Revised Statutes, a provision claimed to be designed to prevent identity theft. Still, the source told WND confidentially the motivation for withholding the original birth certificate was political, and refused to disclose whether there was any information on the original birth certificate that would prove politically embarrassing to Obama.

The source also refused to answer WND's question whether the original document on file with the Department of Health was a hospital-generated birth certificate or a registration of birth that may have been filed subsequent to the birth. I’ll tell you a little story: a young populist figured out a way to game the democratic process of a nation. Using empty slogans, intimidation and fraud, he managed to get himself elected and, moreover, managed to get himself elected with sufficient votes to take over power altogether. All very democratic, all very much within what the system, not having planned for the possibility that somebody like him and his followers would show up, allowed.

His message to the people who got him elected? Hope for a better future for themselves and a profound Change of the way things were done in the capital. Nobody ever stopped him because, after all, it was the Will of the People™ and, even though some rules were bent in the process, overall it was just, you know, free and democratic.

Once elected, once given the imprimatur of having achieved power through democratic means, Adolf abolished those means because he wasn’t about to allow somebody else to unseat him in the same fashion.

12 years later, millions were dead and a continent lay in ruins.

All because nobody dared question his rise to power. He was, after all, democratically elected. In a landslide.

For the illumination of the legally challenged amongst us, we ask: Since when was domestic violence a civil case?

One presumes that the Religion of Honor Killings will come up with some perfectly wonderful rulings on domestic violence cases, rulings that will further serve to highlight Britain as a beacon of equal “justice” for all.

There are concerns that women who agree to go to tribunal courts are getting worse deals because Islamic law favours men. Think so?

Last Thursday, Senator McCain set the stage by congratulating Senator Obama on his historic moment.

Last Friday, Senator McCain made even bigger history with his knock-it-out-of-the-park unanticipated selection of Sarah Palin for VP. His sequencing totally refocused the attention of the media on him and Palin – denying any surge of interest in Obama.

Last Saturday the media swung into gear, nakedly exposing the left’s de facto contempt for women (feminism be damned) and their slime-machine techniques were on open display. No time for subtlety, understand. In the most hilarious moment of the campaign so far, the progressive party of feminists was actually stating that a woman’s place was at home with her children!

On Wednesday, Palin delivered a stunning speech simultaneously defending her record, promoting McCain, and attacking Obama. She pulled it off like a seasoned pro, with some of the best comparisons and summations of Obama’s positions this little old Commander has ever seen.

Former “President” Carter summed up the only Democratic defense nicely when he accused McCain of exploiting his POW story. (huhhhh???!?!?! At least he has a story…)

Last night, McCain delivered a rousing speech on what it means to be an American unencumbered by totalitarian government. How it is supposed to work on the moderate-to-conservative right. And how he planned to shake things up in his term. The left still tries to demonize Palin.

It was a great week in American politics, that’s for sure. A whole new method of campaigning and a whole new Republican dynamic is unfolding before our eyes.

Grand Slam Home Run!

All over America this weekend, the middle class reaction to Palin’s selection was frenzied, while the left-wing hate merchants sprang into action with a vigor unseen since the “Bush lied” derangement. Especially among women. Women called in to radio en masse Friday, dwarfing the normally-male commenters.

Palin provides a much welcome cultural break from the chip-on-the-shoulder harridan model of political women that have been prevalent (think corrupt, anti-moral, belligerent and insufferable self-serving bitch: Hillary Clinton, Janet Reno, et al.) She has rejected the perks of public life in favor of common sense. She is friendly to business but unfriendly to perks. She supports Ron Paul and rejects party mentalities.

A brilliant choice on McCain's part. Conservatives have or will now forgive all of McCain's deviations. Many people who didn’t care whether he wins or loses have come around completely. She will, of course, be a huge focus of the campaign. She will provide a conservative voice that keeps him honest about “reaching across the aisle” – especially on the holy 2nd amendment.
They say she lacks "experience" - bogus! The history of VPs shows a long history of people with very little of what is called "experience" today. And contrary to the media, the political values you hold are far more important than experience.

We are not hiring managers. True leadership transcends experience arguments. Sarah Palin is smart, articulate, attractive, pro-life, and pro-gun. Her political career has been based on fighting Republican corruption. Her ratings as Alaska governor are very high. Palin will bring the whole Republican base home, and some Independent and Democratic women. Palin even blunts Hillary for 2012. They may have just locked the Dumbocraps out of the White House until 2020.

Many McCain supporters wanted Romney for VP – who may have been another good choice. However, Palin’s record is better in key ways: he failed to reform Massachusetts politics as Governor – Ted Kennedy still represents them – they still have punitive taxation – they still have the most restrictive gun laws in the US – they still function on a socialist health care system – I could go on. Even though he was a successful businessman, he did not restrict state growth in good ole Mass.

And neither Obama, Biden, or McCain has run things in an executive capacity. Palin is the most experienced one on the ticket currently. And she is the only one of the four who is a reformer who has not profited from, fought for, and continually advocated the growth of Big State Politics.

Consolidate the conservative base with representation in the Oval Office. Install a conservative as President of the Senate. Provide a powerful voice against all that is wrong with politics as usual. Moderate McCain’s overly compromising tendencies. Grab the women’s vote – at least those who can see the opportunity here. Sway many independents, libertarians, and rightish Democraps to cross the line (finally the line crossing goes the other way!). The lawsuit claims Barack Obama's eligibility is questionable on several grounds, including that his Hawaii birth certificate is a forgery.

FactChecker.org says it obtained Obama's actual birth certificate and that the document was indeed real. How they did this is a mystery, since Hawaii does not make these documents public, and the Obama campaign has relied upon this fact. Perhaps it took a lesson earlier version of the charade: in 1988, Atlanta, Georgia confined dissidents to what one described as a "free-speech cage" during the Democratic National Committee’s (DNC) convention.

The ChiComs went America’s “rulers” one better: they required would-be protestors to register for the zones. I’m reminded of an old Gary Larson cartoon, in which a dog lurks around the corner from a clothes dryer. On its open door he’s written "cat fud," with an arrow pointing to the machine’s interior. A cat stands aquiver before it, wondering whether there’s really food inside, while the watching dog thinks, "Oh, please, oh, please…"

This is what we call a set-up. Seventy-seven people out of China’s 1.3 billion were dumb enough to fall for it, too: they actually registered with the Chinese government to protest the Chinese government’s abuses. Maybe they’re drinking the same Kool-Aid as Americans who see no harm in registering guns.

The ChiComs have ordered the protestors to a labor camp for a year, where they’ll be "re-educated through labor (RTL)" for "disturbing the public order."

Showing typical liberal disdain for law when it actually applkies to them, post-Heller, Washington DC has thumbed its nose at the Supreme Court of the US, enacting restrictive legislation against gun ownership and denying Mr Heller his license in direct contravention of the court's decision.

The District's "emergency" action would keep the unconstitutional gun license requirement, keep the unconstitutional semiautomatic ban, and impose new unconstitutional "ballistics" requirements on those wishing to exercise their constitutional right to keep a firearm for self-defense.

But, even more flagrantly, the District would maintain the trigger lock and unloaded gun requirements which were explicitly overturned by the High Court.

GOA Executive Director Larry Pratt characterized the council's action by saying: "It is no wonder that the District is awash with lawlessness. The contempt for the law starts in the city council chambers."

And he also called on Congress to exercise its constitutional responsibility under Article I, Section 8, Clause 17, to rein in the lawless D.C. government - bipartisan which bills have been introduced.

"Obviously," said Pratt, "the District has demonstrated that it is unable to govern itself. So it's about time someone did it for them."

Recently on Long Island, a Freeport resident grew tired of the government's apparent disinterest in enforcing immigration law when an illegal alien attempted yet another murder in his neuighborhood, or something like that.

Our intrepid citizen marched himself down to Representative Carolyn McCarthy's office in Garden City to complain. Loudly. He committed no crime. Staffers then called 911 on him. Why? Unexplained. The next day Nassau County enforcers came to his house and confiscated his guns on the theory that preemptive enforcement is somehow legal in the USA.

If you or I call 911, they invariably say that they can do nothing until a crime has been committed. But they will jump through their own ass when it's a gummint komissar doing the instructing.

Clearly the rule of law means nothing to our Dumbocrat reps or their henchmen in blue uniforms with costume jewelry on them.

Your reps are out to get you. Don't cross them. This is the message sent by "Representative" McCarthy.

The sheriff should be voted out. Along with the town, city, county, or state person el supporting the removal of kids from their homes and families without probable cause. Hell, without even any evidence of an actual crime at all.

The citizens of Texas should be outraged and should insist on equal protection of the laws – even for members of a non-state-approved religion. Then they should be curbing the power of the renegade and unrepentant CPS agency. The head of the agency should be removed and prosecuted. All the police involved should be prosecuted.

Make no bones about it – this was an egregious abuse of police power.

This case followed exactly the story of the intruder who dug up Granny’s gardenia’s and replaced them with daisies. They wound up an a protracted debate over the relative merits of gardenias versus daisies. Completely missing the point: Whose yard was it, anyway?

The proper response to these allegations was to investigate for abuse and remove the adults perpetrating abuse – if any. The 5 or 7 or 24 arrests would have neatly, constitutionally, and effectively resolved the situation.

However, compromise might be more properly termed a “solution:” which satisfies no one. Especially relating to borders.

If everybody takes a stance and won't budge, if nobody is willing to give at least an inch (if not a mile), why, then nothing will ever get done! (This overlooks the obvious fact that there are circumstances -- almost all of which involve government -- in which nothing ever should get done.)

Thanks to the left-wing politicos in Congress who were usually the principal advocates of compromise, it always seems to be the other guy who was supposed to be so willing to compromise. (Like the way you and I never get to be "others" when "others" are the entities we're all supposed to live to serve. And provide education for. And free health care. And drivers licenses.)

And of course whoever has been sucker enough to compromise is expected to do it all over again, the next time the subject comes up.
Somebody needs to knock them down, sit on their chests, and scream down their nostrils that any compromise with evil is -- guess what -- evil!

In a matter of less than twenty years, our campuses, the media, and then our places of business were taken over by a kind of social disease we now call "political correctness" in which it's considered unacceptable to call a thing by its true name, to want to know who started the fight, to protect yourself, to judge individuals by their actual abilities or virtues, or to enjoy anything that might make the most hypochondriac lunatic among us whimper or sniffle that he's allergic to anyone even thinking about eating peanut butter, wearing perfume, or smoking tobacco.
We're also too ready to compromise on an international level. Sheriff Maketa said applications rose 87 percent in his county, and most of those were for new permits rather than renewals. He said spikes in applications happened directly after high profile shootings like the Utah mall shooting, the Virginia Tech massacre and the New Life Church gun battle — all happened in 2007.

Maketa said he's not concerned about the county's growing number of legally armed people. In fact, he said he believes law-abiding citizens make the region safer by getting the permits.

Amid much debate over the role of self-defense in fighting crime (statistics show that you are much safer fighting back than you are with any other response) a novel response is gaining favor.
Courts have now ruled that police do not have a duty to protect you – only to protect “society at large”. Gun rights advocates thus conclude that a person’s best defense is their own armed response, or at least fighting back with whatever is at hand.

Now, according to USA Today, “Facing tighter budgets, law enforcement agencies across the country are increasingly turning to civilians [Aren’t police civilians too? The police force is not a military body. Yet. -CDR] to respond to some calls that sworn officers and deputies are usually responsible for.

Hmmm.

Yesterday’s SCOTUS review of the Washington DC gun ban was interesting – even to those of us who thought we knew what to expect.

First, DCs attorney opened with statements of historical falsity. Either he is stupid, unprepared, or willing to lie even to the Supreme Court to get his way. (See 3:16-25).

Secondly, during discussion, even Justice Kennedy (hardly a conservative) was opining on the unequivocal right of the individual to own arms. The court’s sticking point was whether a jurisdiction could legitimately ban one type of firearm while allowing others.

Thirdly, the court argument veered into the territory of allowing machine guns due to their applicability to military service (we feel it is highly unlikely that the court will ever rule that machine guns are legitimate for civilian possession – even though the M-16 is the basic arm of our military).

Prediction – the court will rule that the fundamental right of individuals to own and bear arms is protected, that “bear arms” requires further review to determine cases and circumstances where the right cannot be regulated, and that ownership of various types of firearms can be subjected to reasonable regulation that is more lenient than most attempts now. The DC ban will be struck down. Licensing will be upheld. Many challenges to regulations and licensing will follow.
Ah, well – you can’t have everything. Where would you put it?

Second Amendment

Today the Supreme Court (SCOTUS) is hearing argument on the scope of the second amendment to the US Constituion. At issue is whether the amendment protects an individual right without restriction or whether it protects a collective right of the state. Although plain language, plain reading, and consistency with the rest of the constitution requires an interpretation that anyone but a Democrat or a Lobbyist can deduce, we note that the version of the amendment used ion all the news coverage is incorrectly reproduced:

To wit:

“A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed”. This rendering does not even make grammatic sense and is relied upon by opponents of the individual rights theory.

The correct rendering, taken from the Bill of Rights in the National Archives, is as follows:

A well regulated Militia being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms shall not be infringed.

Very plain.

He denies being gay. Yet he was charged with soliciting gay sex in a bathroom and pled guilty to a lesser included charge in order to avoid a scandal – he claims in a moment of stress.

The hidden facts are that he was the person who spearheaded the move (later derailed by democrats) to bring Janet Reno, FBI, and ATF to accounts for Waco.

Reasonable doubt? Perhaps they finally found a way to frame him and ruin him? Who can say for sure?
